Thought Police at 'Rock the River' on New Year's Eve...

This year's Rock the River SA New Year's Festival will take place at the Cape Town Ostrich Ranch, located just 20 minutes from Cape Town on the N7 towards the West Coast. The event runs from December 31st to January 2nd, with the gates opening on Friday the 30th at 15h00. Festival goers will be able to enjoy New Year's festivities in a safe, natural environment, away from the bustle of the inner city, while listening to awesome music, in the company of other awesome people!

Thought Police to feature at the MuthaFM launch party...

This is the launch event for a whole new era in Music interaction and communication… Mutha FM is launching the biggest music media network that the internet world has ever seen, giving its listeners a new way to interact with their favorite artists, DJ’s, Bands, Producers, Event Promoters, Club Owners and Publications.

This will be a whole new way to converse and interact with people who are a part of the music industry, elevating everybody who has the passion of music inside them to the next level, giving them all an equal share of the stage.

Thought Police line up at the new Zula Bar...

Thought Police have been booked to kick off a night of awesome local rock acts at the newly revamped Zula Bar in the City Centre. The night is Friday 22 July, and the action gets underway at 10pm, running through to 1am on Saturday morning. Other bands performing include Reburn, Kill Disco and Far Horizon. Don't miss it!

Thought Police set to rock Hermanus...

Thought Police are heading out to Hermanus on Friday 24th June where they will be rocking the famous whale-watching resort for the first time. Enthusiastic fans will be at the fabulous Gecko Bar venue from 9pm, where Thought Police and Four a Penny will give Hermanus a night to remember. With great wood-fired pizzas and bar specials, make your way to Hermanus on Friday and heat up a cold Winter's night...!

Thought Police to line up at 'Get Laid' and 'Rock The River 3' music festivals during April...

Thought Police have been signed up to play at two music festivals taking place in the Cape during April. On Saturday 02 April you can see them in action at the 'Get Laid' festival at the Cape Ostrich Farm up the N7. Visit the Get Laid website for details...

Later in the month they'll be performing at 'Rock The River 3', happening at the Buffalo Drift resort on the Berg River near Gouda, on the R44 - only 80 minutes from Cape Town. The event takes place from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 April. You can catch Thought Police in action at 11am on the Saturday morning... guaranteed to kick-start your day! Thought Police, The Rescu and McCree rock the Purple Turtle...

Those who made the trip into town were treated to a fantastic line-up of rock bands at the Purple Turtle. The Rescu kicked off the night with a set of power rock, followed by McCree with their polished and tight set. Thought Police then had late-night revellers rocking to a solid set of their energetic brand of music, bringing down the curtain on a great night's entertainment! Look out for more collaboration between these great Cape Town bands...!

Thought Police headline the Viper Lounge 'launch party'...

On Saturday 29th January the band lined up as the headline act on a bill that included The Bone Collectors, Fox Comet, Red Huxley and others. The event was the launch party of the new Viper Lounge in Table View - designed with a solid stage, excellent quality sound system and great lighting, it is set to become a premier venue for live music up the west coast. There were awesome rock acts throughout the afternoon and into the night, great bar specials, fantastic food on offer... and the huge crowd who attended agreed that it was a fitting start for this great new live music venue in the Cape...!

Another rocking weekend in the bag...

Thought Police were joined by local rock band Chasing Friday for a night of rock action at Purple Turtle in the City. Earl Grey & Croquet, visiting the Mother City for the first time from Johannesburg, also lined up on the bill - as promised, it was a fantastic lineup that had the Turtle jumping until well after midnight...

A successful weekend of gigs behind, and more ahead of us...

Thought Police took no prisoners this past weekend, playing to appreciative audiences at Nameless Pub in Somerset West, and Barleycorn Music Club in Claremont on Monday night. With a headline gig at Purple Turtle in the city this Saturday, and a Halloween Charity Drive gig the next Friday, it's a busy time for this group of hard-working and accomplished musicians. Party-goers to Purple Turtle on Saturday 23 October will also be treated to a performance by JHB rock band 'Earl Grey & Croquet' who will visit the Mother City for the first time, plus 'Chasing Friday' who already have a big following around town. We suggest you get there early...!

On the 'Fan Walk'... one more time!

It was another wind-still and cloudless Friday evening in the Mother City as Thought Police again took to the CCE Project balcony above Somerset Road. Thousands of fans attending the England vs Algeria game were blown away by the energy of the solid and fast-paced rock delivered by this polished local outfit. Many people were quick to agree that Thought Police are destined for greater things on both the local and international stages...

Thought Police rock the 'Fan Walk' near Cape Town's World Cup Stadium...

On Friday evening thousands of cheering and vuvuzela-blowing fans heading to the France vs Uruguay opening World Cup match at Cape Town Stadium were treated to a 45 minute set of 'righteous rock 'n roll' as Thought Police played live from the first floor balcony of the CCE Project overlooking Somerset Road in Green Point. The band kicked off proceedings at 6pm on a perfect evening: Bafana-Bafana had just drawn their opening match 1-1 with Mexico, and Thought Police fanned the fire of the already-ignited party mood! Fans attending the England vs Algeria match on Friday 18 June can look forward to a repeat performance...!

Thought Police interviewed on 'Bush Radio'...

This morning at 8:15am (Wednesday, 19th May) the band were interviewed LIVE on Air on Bush Radio 89.5FM. Listeners to the morning show were treated to an acoustic unplugged performance of 'I Come Undone', one of the outstanding new songs written recently by the band. Bush Radio also played a studio recording of another killer new track after the interview - 'Take my breath away'. Many people are predicting that this will be a huge hit song for the band. Thought Police lose out in close semi-final match of RPL

In a very close semi-final match Thought Police lost out by just 2 votes (31 - 29) to the 357s. The knock-out rounds were always just going to be about support on the night, and unfortunately we just didn't have enough people there to get us through. Well done to Red Huxley and the 357s who will battle it out in the final at Mercury Live on 13 March - please go and support them! [Click here to read more about our music...]

Thought Police through to Semi-Finals of RPL

After a convincing performance in the Quarter-Finals last week, Thought Police have made it through to the Semi-Final stage where they'll be coming up against 'The 357s' in a head-to-head battle to make it to the Final. Launch of the 'Thought Campaign'

We started 2010 with the launch of our 'Thought Campaign' - aimed at making people aware of issues that confront us on a daily basis, not only on a personal or national level, but also globally. Lost love, regret, general dissatisfaction, famine, war, de-forestation, climate change, intolerance, hatred, a blind eye to the needs of those around us... what is this world we're creating, and what will be the legacy we leave for our children? Thought Police support R62 Toy Run in Barrydale

In November the band answered the call from organisers to support the annual 'Toy Run' to the Karoo Saloon near Barrydale, and provide entertainment for the generous contributors who would make the trip to deliver toys for underprivileged kids. Giving of their time and musical talent in support of a worthy cause is one of the things that identifies the Thought Police, and they didn't disappoint - their energetic performance on the compact Castle Lager rig at the venue kept everyone warm on a cool Klein-Karoo evening, and no doubt contributed to the success of the event!

Top-5 Finalists in local Battle-of-the-Bands competition

Less than 6 months after the band was formed, Thought Police were one of 16 bands selected to take part in a battle-of-the-bands competition hosted by the Goodwood Spur and Serotonin Sound Studios in Goodwood during September. Bands performed on the massive Coca-Cola mobile rig, with 20,000 Watt sound system and awesome array of lighting. Unfortunately this open-air event was also marked by apalling weather, yet those who braved the elements to attend were treated to an excellent cross-section of local Cape Town rock talent! Thought Police announced their arrival on the local original rock scene with a very credible top-5 finalist place in the competition, and signalled their intention to take the SA music scene by storm with their brand of 'righteous rock-n-roll'.
