When asked to describe our music, we can't tie it down to a single style of rock as the four of us have had so many diverse musical influences over the years - but perhaps Brett described it best when he referred to our music as "Righteous Rock 'n Roll". Our songs have a broad appeal across a range of age groups due to the wide range of influences. If we really had to compare ourselves for the sake of describing our music style, we reckon that a blend of the following bands would give you a fair idea: U2, Counting Crows, Stereophonics, Steve Miller Band, Killers, The Police & The Rolling Stones...
As we've already said, many of our songs are thought-provoking. Then of course there are also those feel-good ballads and 'righteous Rock 'n Roll' songs that we love to write and perform - you know, those songs that will have you 'flicking-your-BIC' or 'foot-stompin' in the aisles! Really, we just put our material out there for you to interpret as you like, so take out of it what you will. Whatever happens, we know that you'll relate to our music and feel it in your bones, so buckle up and enjoy the ride!
Apart from a top-5 place in a battle of the bands competition in September 2010, Thought Police were selected as one of 16 bands to take part in the Rock Out Radio 'Rock Premier League' - a unique and innovative format where bands play off against each other in a round-robin section, followed by semis and final knock-out rounds. Thought Police made it to the semi-finals, narrowly missing out on the final by just 2 votes. Since then the band has played on various big stages, and won numerous accolades for their energetic and hard-rocking stage shows.
